Jonathan Conant is a U.S. Navy veteran, inventor, and master electrician with more than 20 years of experience in the electrical trade. During his military service, he served aboard a submarine, where he developed the discipline, technical expertise, and commitment to safety that have defined his career.
After leaving the Navy, Jonathan built a successful career as an electrician, earning a reputation for solving complex challenges with practical, innovative solutions. His extensive field experience led him to invent the Rope Cobra, a tool designed to create a safer and more efficient method for pulling rope through electrical conduit. After nearly losing a finger during a manual team wire pull, Jonathan searched for a tool to safely and effectively pull rope manually. When he could not find one, he determined to design one that is simple, safe, and effective. The invention reflects his dedication to improving workplace safety while helping electricians work more effectively.
Jonathan is passionate about innovation, craftsmanship, and advancing the electrical industry through real-world solutions. His mission is to make demanding jobs safer, easier, and more efficient for the professionals who perform them every day.
Years in the field, one recurring headache.
Jonathan has spent over 20 years in the electrical field. He has frequently seen that pulling equipment needed for more simple pulls is typically not available during the wire pulls.
The solution was a handheld tool that could fit in a tool bag, and be used instantly with no setup time needed. This initiated the birth of the Rope Cobra.
From a sketch to a working prototype.
The birth of the Rope Cobra began as a sketch on a piece of paper. The first prototype was made of styrofoam and wood. The project evolved into functional prototypes made of durable plastics, then through extensive testing and engineering, the final working prototype was completed.
Through extensive field-testing and networking, it has also been discovered that in addition to rope, Rope Cobra also works well on insulated wire and steel cable. It has been discovered that Rope Cobra will be useful in other industries, such as heavy steel, automotive, towing, and rescue and recovery.
